You can't download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be. With this optional voice and audio activity setting, you can also save audio recordings with Web & App Activity when you interact with Google Search, Assistant, and Maps. This voice and audio activity setting is off unless you choose to turn it on. If you use the Google Home app to view your camera or doorbell's video history, you can save events as video clips to your phone.
When you make an instant video clip, the app will search for the beginning and the end of activity near the time you've selected,create a clip of that activity, and save it in the app. 2You can only use the Nest app to download video clips that are created in the Nest app. You can't download video clips created on a computer with the Nest app.

Google Nest cameras and doorbells can detect important sound or motion, stream live video, and save the video to the cloud. This helps you keep tabs on activity happening in and around your home. If your camera is using its backup battery, it will honor its maximum video clip length setting. This means that if your camera is recording an event, it will cut off and save the clip even if the event is still happening. All Google Nest cameras and doorbells can upload and securely save video in the cloud, where it's protected from theft and damage. Once your camera's video is safely uploaded, you can access it anytime.
If you switch from a 1st gen Nest Aware to a new Nest Aware subscription, your camera’s existing 24/7 video history will switch to event video history. If you get Nest Aware Plus instead, you will receive 10 days of 24/7 video history, and 60 days of event video history. If you have Nest Aware and upgrade to Nest Aware Plus, your 10 days of 24/7 history and 60 days of event video history will start when you purchase your new subscription. If you have a newer camera like Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell , you can get up to 3 hours of event video history without a subscription. But for most older Nest camera and doorbell models, you need a Nest Aware subscription to get event video history or 24/7 video history. This means that without a subscription, you can get photo snapshots of detected activity up to 3 hours in the past.
Google recently changed the default behavior not to keep the recordings. But that change only affected new users—not existing ones. If you want to delete all queries for a select period of time , click the hamburger icon on the “Today” header. If you feel slightly uncomfortable over your coordinate location being noted with each recording, you have a few options to permanently delete the recordings.
